Fashion trek 2009

By admin | June 9, 2009

Christopher Kane, Max Azria and Paul Smith take you on an Africa Safari presenting Cheetah, Leopard and other animal print tops teamed with geometric print skirts. The inspiration for this year’s collection seemed to be an amalgamation of Egyptian, oriental and African styles in sheer neutral tones, a turban here and exotic colours there. Reem Arca and Gucci added further majesty and sensuality by presenting flowing kaftans in Nile Blue and golden sheers. The animal print is elegant in the daytime with beige shorts and simple sandals. For a Cleopatra looking evening wear, with sheer flowing fabrics of the Kaftans drape to perfection, keeping accessories to a minimum and a embroidered shoe called mojaris or slinky, strapy sandals in complimenting colours would do complete justice to the Queen of Sheba look.
Find your Safari style practicality by Ralph Lauren and Lacoste in a timeless and recurring in every seasons and years collection with a few commendable nips and tucks which add variations and elegance. Worn with light neutral shades of makeup and practical sandals, they make an excellent and active daytime wear.
The chysalis, emergence
Flit, bloom to bloom
Sip, life’s nectar
Pollens resurrect
Fortnight’s life
This haiku distils the theme of this seasons chosen motif, yes you guessed it! Butterflies! Woven into the sheers and motifs. Breeze and float in gently ruffled lilacs by Collette Dinnigan, wear cocoon skirts and oriental collars by Tibi. Be the poetry in Diane von Furstenberg and Badgley Mischka, delicate, elegant butterfly motifs, flowy fabrics, layered, sheer is the flavor of the season.
Want to go super glam & glitzy- check out Zac Posen, Alexander McQueen, Alberta Ferretti, Dolce & Gabbana, Etro, and Blumarine. The Egyptian theme continues here- be it sandals, body art with jewels at the décolleté, midriff, cheekbones; bejewelled shoes, jewel-encrusted cat suits from neck to ankles! So as you are bejeweled and loaded, do you need jewellery with this ensemble, nada!

Enjoy!
